[playht_player width=”100%” height=”90px” voice=”Michael (en-US)”]Twitter just started testing a new function to report Tweets that may contain fake news. This initiative comes as a part of the social networks’ attempts to fight misinformation.
Users will get the chance to report the Tweets they consider that could be misleading or fake. Then, the social network team will check every report before proceeding.
As of now, however, this new feature is only available in certain places. Right now, just users from Australia, South Korea, and the United States can use this button, according to a statement from the company.
Jack Dorsey’s company announced that this pilot test will determine whether this is an efficient approach to fight misinformation. Needless to say, it also opens up the door for further censorship depending on the content people are reporting.
Twitter warned that it may not take further action against every report people make. Nonetheless, every report will help the company continue developing this feature.
It’s also worth noting that Twitter has enforced several design changes on its platform since mid-August. They modified the contrast of the buttons to make them “easier to the eyes” of some people with sensory sensitivities:
“We’re making contrast changes on all buttons to make them easier on the eyes because you told us the new look is uncomfortable for people with sensory sensitivities. We’re listening and iterating. We’ve identified issues with the Chirp font for Windows users and are actively working on a fix. Thanks for your patience and please let us know if you have additional feedback,” the company announced.
Moreover, Twitter is looking to pave its way in the E-commerce spectrum as well. According to their official blog, they’re looking forward to adding a new feature that will allow users to buy products directly from official profiles.
The company had already discussed this possibility several years ago but they halted the project to focus on the scalability of the platform. Now, they’re ready to bring that idea to reality.
