Near Protocol, a layer 1 blockchain network, has launched a product-first operating system aimed at enhancing the user experience. Dubbed a “blockchain operating system (BOS),” the platform provides a common layer for browsing and discovering Web 3 products such as non-fungible token (NFT) galleries, social networks, and crypto exchanges. The BOS is compatible with all blockchains and can be used as a common entry point for users, according to Illia Polosukhin, co-founder of Near Protocol.
The BOS offers a way for developers to build and launch better decentralized and composable front ends faster than existing options. They can leverage built-ins such as profiles, payments, notifications, and searching without having to host anything themselves. The composable decentralized front ends framework is compatible with any Web2 or Web3 back end and any wallet.
Polosukhin added that in the future, Near Protocol will offer the use of wallets from one chain to interact with another via seamless bridging. This move will enhance user experience, as there are currently no search mechanisms or ways to navigate between Web3 apps. The BOS creates a single point of entry for users, said Polosukhin.
At the time of writing, Near Protocol ranked as the 35th largest blockchain in terms of market capitalization, with a market cap of around $1.96 billion and its NEAR token trading at approximately $2.28.
