[playht_player width=”100%” height=”90px” voice=”Michael (en-US)”]Now that the FDA has finally approved one of the Covid-19 vaccines, Dr. Anthony Fauci once again made the news. This time, the expert claimed that if the overwhelming majority of the population gets the vaccine, the U.S. might have the pandemic under control by spring 2022.
“We hope we’ll be there by spring. But there’s no guarantee because it’s up to us,” Fauci said.
Health experts are still on the fence regarding the proportion of the population that must get the vaccine to allow the nation to go back to normality. Thus, the best way to move forward is by vaccinating as many people as they can, as per Fauci.
On Monday, the FDA gave full approval to the Pfizer/BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine for people age 16 and older. Thus far, just 51.5% of the population is fully vaccinated, according to the CDC. Therefore, Fauci hopes that this FDA endorsement will motivate a lot of Americans to get the shot.
In the meantime, the effects of the pandemic continue to take a toll in the world. Hospitals in areas with low vaccination rates are overflown with patients, and students haven’t been able to go back to school normally.
State Offices And Schools Mandate COVID Vaccination
That’s why some government offices and schools demand full vaccination from all people in attendance and work. Former NY Governor Andrew Cuomo released a statement mandating that all the employees of the state get the vaccine.
“The Delta variant is spreading across the nation and across New York, and over 80 percent of recent positives in New York State are linked to the Delta variant. We must now act again to stop the spread. Our healthcare heroes led the battle against the virus, and now we need them to lead the battle between the variant and the vaccine,” said Cuomo.
